If you’re planning a home birth in Northern Colorado, you need to meet Jen Grieco, Certified Professional Midwife! With over a decade of experience, Jen provides holistic, family-centered care for families seeking an empowered, natural birth experience.
“I have been in this area for the last two and a half years,” Jen shares. “But I previously had a home birth practice in Southern California since 2011.”
She’s no stranger to birth work—and once you hear her story, you’ll understand why she’s so passionate about what she does!
From Nurse to NoCo Home Birth Midwife: A Calling to Birth Work
Jen’s journey into midwifery started with a firsthand look at hospital-based maternity care—and the lack of connection and individualized support she saw there.
“During my nursing career, I saw firsthand the limitations of highly managed, clinical approaches to birth,” Jen explains. “While the medical system can save lives in emergencies, I noticed a lack of connection, individualized care, and respect for the natural process of birth.”
That realization sent her down a new path—one focused on honoring the natural process of birth and helping families feel seen, heard, and supported.
“My journey as a teen mom, combined with the privilege of supporting other young mothers during those early years, taught me how transformative it is to feel truly seen, heard, and valued,” she says.
Jen now dedicates her career to helping families step into their power during birth. “At the heart of it all, I am driven by a deep desire to honor the sacred journey of birth.”
What Makes Home Birth with Jen Special?
Midwifery care isn’t just about showing up for the birth—it’s a relationship built over months of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.
“Many assume I only show up for the birth itself, but in reality, midwifery care is a comprehensive partnership that begins long before labor and continues well into the postpartum period,” Jen shares.
That’s one of the biggest misconceptions about midwifery, and people are often shocked when they hear the reality.
“I am on call 24/7 almost 365 days a year lol,” Jen laughs. “Once they get over that initial shock, they’re surprised by the depth and scope of care I provide.”
From personalized prenatal care to postpartum recovery and newborn care, Jen is there for families every step of the way.

A Birth Story to Remember
Every birth Jen attends is special, but some moments stick with her forever—like the time she supported a mama planning an HBAC (Home Birth After Cesarean).
“We had a lot of ground to cover in a short amount of time,” Jen recalls. “But I could feel her unwavering commitment to doing the work—mentally, physically, and emotionally—to achieve her goal.”
It wasn’t an easy journey.
“Her labor was slow and steady, reminiscent of a first-time birth,” Jen explains. “After three full days of early labor, active labor, and transition, she roared her baby earthside, filling the room with an indescribable energy.”
That moment of triumph was a deeply healing experience for everyone present.
“She leaned into her strength, her partner, her birth team, and her sheer willpower to meet her baby on her terms,” Jen says. “It was a profoundly healing moment, a true reminder of the power of trust, resilience, and the sacredness of birth.”
Jen’s Top 3 Birth Tips
Jen has three key pieces of advice for expectant parents:
1️⃣ Trust your body and your baby. “Your body was made for this. Trust the process.”
2️⃣ Create a strong support system. “Surround yourself with people who uplift and encourage you.”
3️⃣ Stay flexible and open to the journey. “Birth is unpredictable—trust your intuition and go with the flow.”
Life Beyond Midwifery
When she’s not catching babies, Jen loves traveling, hiking, and spending time in nature.
“This is where I regulate my nervous system and feel grounded,” she says.
Because being a midwife means being on call nearly all year, Jen makes sure to schedule an undisturbed month off-call every year.
“I always schedule out an annual, undisturbed month off-call so that I can be with my family,” she shares.
And while she can’t imagine not supporting families, she does picture a future where she transitions into postpartum care.
“I imagine myself transitioning into a postpartum doula role someday when my on-call days are over,” Jen says. “I picture myself preparing meals, holding mothers, snuggling babies, and nourishing families.”
