Can we just take a minute to talk about how freaking COOL Demar Moran is!? She’s not only a labor and delivery nurse (pretty much a superhero), but she’s also a self-taught watercolor artist who paints the most beautiful, emotional birth art you’ve ever seen!
From the Birth Space to the Art Studio
Demar lives right here in Firestone and has been soaking up the Colorado life for the past 9 years. She’s been painting seriously for the last 2–3 years, and it all started as a way to decompress. But then something magical happened… people wanted to buy her work!
Now, her dream is to spend most of her time painting and only work at the hospital one day a week.
She’s especially drawn to painting birth-related art, because she says…
“I LOVE labor and birth so I really enjoy doing art that pertains to that. I love the raw, unfiltered moments during and after, and those are my favorite to paint.”
Painting the Moments That Matter
If you’ve ever seen Demar’s work, you know how full of emotion it is. And that’s exactly what she loves most about it:
“Creating something that brings so much joy is such a privilege and honor! I’m painting some of the most important moments that people have and it’s beautiful to get a glimpse into people’s lives and see what they hold near and dear to their hearts.”
And the cherry on top…. She gets to listen to audiobooks while she paints! (She’s a fellow book girlie with over 125 books a year!!)
Advice from a Birth Pro + Artist Combo
With years of experience in the birth world, Demar has some solid advice for all you pregnant mamas:
- “Enjoy the moments as they come and just be present. This is a very short period of time in your life but one that you will remember and reminisce often.”
- “Prepare and educate yourself but also know that your plans may change.”
- “Accept help when people offer it! If they want to come over and help you, let them unload the dishwasher or fold your clothes!!”
