Finding Peace in Your Feeding Journey: Meet NoCo Lactation Consultant Ana Grantham

Breastfeeding and newborn feeding can feel overwhelming—there’s a ton of information out there, and let’s be honest, not all of it is helpful (or even true!). If you’re looking for evidence-based, compassionate lactation support in Northern Colorado, you need to meet Ana Grantham, RN, IBCLC of Finding Peace Lactation Services.

With over 27 years of nursing experience, Ana has spent the past three years focusing exclusively on lactation support, helping parents feel confident in their feeding choices—whatever they may be.

A Personal Journey That Led to Helping Others

Ana’s passion for lactation support comes straight from her own experience as a mom.

“My own struggles with breastfeeding my two children deeply influenced my decision to become a lactation consultant,” she shares. “When I faced challenges, it was difficult to find reliable, evidence-based support that could truly guide me. This experience made me realize how essential it is for parents to have accessible, compassionate, and informed help.”

Now, Ana is dedicated to providing the kind of care she wished she had as a new parent, supporting families throughout their feeding journey—whether that means breastfeeding, pumping, combo feeding, or formula feeding.

What Makes Finding Peace Lactation Services Different?

Unlike hospital visits or quick clinic check-ins, Ana provides personalized, in-home lactation support—so you can get the help you need without having to leave your couch.

“My favorite part of this job is having the time to really connect with each family and offer them the support they need,” Ana explains. “I’m able to take my time with each client, listen to their unique concerns, and work with them at a pace that feels comfortable.”

And here’s the best part: most insurance plans cover in-home lactation visits!

Ana also offers private prenatal breastfeeding classes, because as she puts it:

“The more knowledge and support you have before the birth, the better.”

Lactation Support Is About More Than Just Latching

A common misconception about lactation consultants? That they’re only there to help with latch issues. But Ana’s care goes way beyond that.

“I complete a thorough assessment of the entire ‘dyad’—the mother and the baby,” she explains. “I work with your pediatrician and primary care providers as a team to make sure that you both get the best care possible.”

Ana has also worked with families facing unique challenges, including:

  • NICU parents navigating complex feeding situations
  • Moms experiencing domestic violence or trauma
  • Families impacted by substance use disorder

“Each of these experiences has been unique, and they’ve all shown me the strength and resilience of parents in the face of immense challenges,” she shares.

Trusting Your Instincts & Finding What Works for You

One of Ana’s proudest moments as a lactation consultant? Helping parents trust their gut when something doesn’t feel right.

“I’m proud of a time when listening carefully to new parents’ concerns led to the diagnosis of a surgical problem in a newborn that had been missed earlier,” she recalls. “It was a powerful reminder that your gut instinct is something to listen to.”

And while she’s a passionate advocate for breastfeeding, Ana is also a firm believer that there is no “one right way” to feed your baby.

“I’ve been proud to help mothers who chose to stop breastfeeding when it just wasn’t right for them,” she says. “Supporting a parent in their decision—no matter what that choice is—is so important.”
