Frequently Asked Questions

Let's talk about some

Do you offer payment plans?

I definitely  offer payment plans!   There is a 25% retainer fee   that   is required to book your date on my calendar for all sessions.  FOr birth , fresh 48, and bringing home baby sessions, the balance is due in full by 38 weeks. for all other sessions the balance is due one week before our session.  Inside of that we can set up a payment plan that works for you!
I also have a registry option for birth stories!  your friends and family will be able to contribute any amount to your registry and You'll be able to share the link in emails, baby shower invites, on Facebook, or just a text message. Best of all, you'll be able to track your progress, and will have a list of contributors to send thank you cards to afterwards. Just shoot me an email at any point that you decide you'd like to set one up!😘

What should I expect during our session?

Where are you located and what areas do you serve?

I'm ready to schedule! What do I do now?

Do you meet with people before the session?

What should we wear!?

What can I expect after the session?

How many images will I receive?

Do you offer albums or prints?

What goes into the cost of birth photography?

What happens if you can't make my birth!?

During our session my goal is not to get everyone looking at the camera, saying a corny "cheese" with a forced smile!
The goal  is to capture your family and your baby AS YOU ARE - the real version; laughing, snuggling, playing, even an occasional palm-to-face moment (hello spit up!) I will gently guide and direct you and your family to create a mix of portrait and candid images. The end result reads more like a scrapbook of memories and less like the one or two portraits you'd expect from a department store photo session.
Because of my lifestyle approach to photos, you should plan to bring your best go-with-the-flow attitude! I will be there to guide you and help create natural interactions between you and your family.  There's no need to try to wrangle the older kids into smiling and looking at the camera - I make sure to be as ridiculous as possible to get their attention - so unless they are running into traffic or ready to break the furniture, you get to just relax and let your kids be themselves! (Tell me that's not a huge relief!?) And when the baby cries, which I have no doubt they will at some point, you do whatever it is you do to calm them down and don't worry about the camera in the room because THAT IS PART OF YOUR STORY!  My hope is that it is a stress-free experience and that you actually enjoy yourself and your family as if I'm not even there!

I am located in Firestone, Colorado, and I generally serve anywhere within a 25 mile radius of Longmont. I like to stay within an hour-ish from birth sessions because of the unpredictability of it, but for the other sessions, I'm not opposed to traveling further if we're the right fit!

When you are ready to book your session with me, all you have to do is click on  the "let's chat" button and fill out the form! Once I get your information we can chat a little bit about what you're looking for and go from there. I require a $200  retainer for birth sessions and 25% for sessions other than birth to secure your date on my calendar. For birth, fresh 48, and bringing home baby sessions we will book your due date and then I will be on-call for you until baby arrives. For all other sessions we can book pretty much any date that works for you, as long as it's free on my calendar! After paying the retainer, the payment plan can be customized to what works for you. For birth, fresh 48, and bringing home baby, the payment in full is due by 38 weeks when I go on-call. For all other sessions, full payment is due one week before the session date. I also offer a registry option that you can sign up for at anytime, just shoot me an email and I'll get it set up for your friends and family to help you out!

It really depends! For birth stories I like to at least video chat once before I'm walking into your birth space so that we've seen each other's faces beforehand and there's a little bit of acquaintance! I tend to do most of my communication through email because most of the time I'm answering questions after my kids go to sleep, but I am happy to video chat or even meet for coffee or lunch with anyone that would like to connect that way first! If you are scheduling a belly session and would like to try on some of the dresses in my client closet before your session, please just let me know! I'm happy to have you come by, or I can bring them to you!

I feel like it's so easy to overthink this question!
My best advice is to wear something that is YOU. If you're a jeans and t-shirt kind of person, wear your favorite jeans and t-shirt. I want you to be comfortable and I want you to represent YOU. The beauty of your family is not in what you wear! At the end of the day the focus should be on you and your family and not on what you are wearing. That being said, it's helpful to choose outfits that aren't too busy so they don't draw the attention away from you 😉

I do my best to text or message you sneak peeks while I'm editing and I hustle to have my galleries delivered within two to four-ish weeks. When all of your images are ready, I'll upload them to a password protected gallery and send you the link and password. From there you are able to download the high resolution images, share them on social media and email, mark your favorites for me to see and to share with friends and family, and purchase additional prints. If you've given me the okay to share on my Facebook and Instagram, keep your eyes out for my posts featuring your family!

I don't put a limit on the amount of photos you will get from your session - I believe you deserve every beautiful memory! Most of my galleries will be somewhere between 50-100 images, and birth stories are generally 100+ images.

I do!! You can order prints directly from your gallery from a professional lab.  If you would like me to design an album for you, I can do that as well! Albums start at $295 and are professional, high-quality amazing-ness! Shoot me a message if you'd like me to design an album for you!

Births are unpredictable. I go on-call for 3-6 weeks for each birth, which means for 3-6 weeks I am ready to be by your side as soon as possible when you go into labor. My equipment (and backup equipment) is all ready to go, I have a babysitter lined up at a moment's notice (even in the middle of the night,) I have snacks and a change of clothes packed in case I'm with you overnight or for a prolonged amount of time, and I am constantly checking my phone to hear any word from you that labor might be starting! Being a birth photographer is a huge commitment, and it sometimes requires that I miss birthdays, special events, and holidays with my family to be at a birth, and I don't take that commitment or responsibility lightly. The cost of birth photography reflects all that goes into it.

No worries, mama! If there is an emergency or I am really sick, I have a handful of wonderful birth photographer friends that will help us out in a pinch! I will speak with the backup photographer and we communicate when we're on-call and some of the basic details so that if something comes up that prevents me from being there, someone else is ready to take over. I've been photographing births for two and a half years now and that's never happened, but I'm a big believer in plan for the worst, hope for the best, so I make sure to cover my bases. The same goes for fresh 48 and bringing home baby sessions, even though there's a little bit more wiggle room in the "when" part of those sessions! And if something comes up before our scheduled belly or baby session, we can reschedule at no cost.
